Look in your area for someone who makes or sell artisan cheeses - they are a real treat. Expensive, yes, but you'll be buying in very small quantities. For a twist on nuts, you can buy raw, shelled peanuts, pecans, walnuts, and roast them lightly with whatever seasoning you like - my son and I favor Tex-Mex seasonings. Fruit - I don't have salads often but when I do I include a few Craisins, or mandarin oranges, or some chopped apple.
I agree, very informative. I can't wait to read more. I'm also a big fan of mandarin oranges on my salad. I've done that for years and it gets the fruit in with the veggies. Anxiously anticipating the next installment.
I love seeing what's in the kitchen of other banders.
Love your idea of the opposite spaghetti. I do something like this. It is taking forever for my eyes to catch up with the program after so many years of eating almost all pasta and one little meatball. lol
How do you like the pistashios? I've seen them all shelled and ready to eat in bags -- they look so good! I think they are one of the lower in fat nuts, too.
Great ideas, thanks! I don't do spicy, but I'm going to look for some other seasonings for nuts recipes...great idea!
I LOVE the pistachios (except I hate pepper and DH bought some, shown here, that are 'salt & pepper seasoned')! I usually buy the kind I have to shell so it slows me down from eating too many. I also do this for the peanuts (should probably do more of them in shells...it would be a good reminder not to eat to many).
I just got a fill today, so I'm on liquids for a few days but I love all these ideas. And your photos are great. Thanks for taking the time to post this.
I really do like these food posts!!! They are so helpful.
And you wrote this on my blog: Isn't there a laser gun they can blast them with or something? HILARIOUS!!! :) That invokes images of the Men in Black with those laser guns they used! :) Actually, some people do get them shocked (or blasted :) ) out if the stones are too big to naturally pass through the urethra (not that it wasn't highly irritating when my 3mm one was passing through the system in the weeks following the initial pain). But the doctor told me that if they aren't that big, the best way to handle them is to have them like a baby (he said that!). And no, my little bundle of KS was so not cute. It looked like a sandspur, in fact.
New to your site and love it! I keep reading about people PBing. Can you tell me exactly what that is? I know I should probably know but I don't. Thanks!
Ok---here is something that I've learned from your posts. You talk about avoiding "sliders" all the time. I have NEVER avoided sliders!! Maybe I should start doing that!!! Also, I've realized that I really don't follow a couple of the band rules. I take sips here and there with meals (not swallows)... I drink when I'm thirsty after I eat. Maybe I should start paying more attention!!! I know that this sounds like, duh! But, seriously not much has changed for me except what hurts (PB--so no more soft tortilla shells...that kind of thing. My nurse always says that this should never feel like a diet--so mine really hasn't felt like much of a change, and hasn't been besides portion control...but maybe that would get me alot further up my weight loss ladder.
I'm a wife, mother of three, and eternal optimist. I've been skinny and obese and all the places in between (too many times). Getting the Lap Band is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I love to laugh and I share everything (in this Lap Band Blog ). Have you heard? I'm on a new journey to pay-it-forward and with the encouragement and support of my Lap Band Groupies.........
I'M WRITING A Lap Band BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Join Me!

I have become a huge fan of seasoning my own nuts. I buy raw and then flavor...I've found I really love Chinese 5-spice on them!
I love the ideas. And your kitchen sounds an awful lot like mine - save we eat pasta maybe once a month...if that...
These types of posts are so helpful to me, a bandster-to-be. Thank you for posting!

This info is awesome! Can't wait to read about your rejected foods. I just got my first fill so I will be experimenting!

A couple of comments on flax seeds:
1) Look for "flax meal" or "ground flax seeds". Otherwise, they pass right through your system whole and you don't get the nutritional benefits.
2) Depending on where you shop, you will find them wither with the Organic Foods or in the section with the flour and other baking goods.
I've really enjoyed reading your nutrition posts. It's good information to have for a future bandster.
I am so enjoying learning from you...thanks so much for sharing
