2/1/10 Finding Common Ground

*Portion of Post Deleted for Lap Band Book

Me on our way out (wearing one of the two fitted tops I mentioned buying at Kohl's...see, it's NOT Black and even better...it's a print!). Oh, and I'm not sure if they were just trying to give me a compliment or not, but the GF's kept telling me that these size 14 jeans (the new ones) were too big.

You do look great. I can really relate to your post. One of my dearest friends is thin. She works out constantly and watches everything she puts in her mouth. She once explained to me that although she is thin, she has struggled with her weight her entire life. I had never thought about it that way. I thought only fat people "struggle". But you are right. Everyone battles body image and control over food. Great post!

BG, You do look wonderful! Yes, today's blog does puts peoples weight struggles in perspective for me. It was'nt until my naturally thin friend gained a whopping 10 lbs that reminded "naturally thin" is not effortless. The difference with her is she got back on track and it came right off. In the past I would have just tried to get on track and gain an additional 10.

Girl, those jeans are WAY too big! Get yourself in a size 12 or 10 ASAP! But you look great.

You are nicer than me....true, we all have struggles, no matter what our starting weight. But 3 pounds????? I understand stressing over the 3 pounds, but whining about it publicly, in front of a friend who has conquered much bigger demons?

Sort of like someone complaining about how they only made $500K this year instead of $1million - in front of the friend who has no income because she lost her job (well, not exactly...but...like I said, you are nicer than me!)

You look amazing! And kudos for being supportive and not one-up'ing instead! It is hard to associate three pounds with what you've lost...but the gain of three pounds is a start to a battle best kept in check at three pounds.

You look amazing! Wow... great job on your weight loss. Also, your story about the girl friend and the weight loss struggle with 3 lbs was a nice little lesson for me. I have a hard time thinking of 3 lbs as a weight loss struggle, but as you said... someday I will be trying to lose 3 lbs and it will be important to me.

Thanks gals!

NSV= Non-Scale Victory (compliments, fitting into a new size, exercise accomplishment, etc.)

Gen- Yeah, the Obese me would have b*tch slapped her and laughed in her face (we're good friends), but the new me knows I'll be fighting to maintain just like her.

One day girls...we'll ALL be recommitting after 'just' a three pound gain...can't wait!
