Oh, BG, I'm so sorry this is what it is! I wish I could make it all better. Hang in there!
In the meantime DO NOT take a laxative. Take softeners and take them according to instructions.
And like I said yesterday, walk, dangit, walk. I know you don't want to. But do it anyway. Sounds like you are, so that's good, but I'm gonna keep harpin on this one.
And by God, Girl, TAKE THE DANGED PAIN PILLS. If you are feeling the pain coming back BEFORE you take the pill, it's too late. If you have to get the 'scrip refilled, then do it. But if your energy is going towards dealing with pain, it's not going towards healing. TAKE THE PILLS. This is not normal and you won't develop an addiction because you are using a pain reducer WISELY. If you need them every three hours, you will be fine. If you don't believe me, talk to your surgeon/nurse and find out from them. 4 hours is a recommendation, not a requirement in this case. And maybe they will decide you need something stronger. Don't try to tough this out...the pain will beat you.
Hang in there, Chica! It is getting better, no matter how bad it feels.
Oh, and feel free to whine all you want. I do. :) It's what we are here for - we understand and I, for one, will never berate you for not holding toxic feelings inside!
I saw your title and thought WTF-she can’t even spell or it must be the drugs. Who couldn’t spell “wine”. Then I read the first line and laughed. I had already allotted {wasted} my time at work for reading blogs but something drove me to check again at lunch and you were top of the list. Must have been picking up your vibes.
I am truly sorry you are in such pain. My song at work is 'The Bitch is Back' so I’ll let you use it for awhile. Now they did cut you up inside, unlike the band where they just put that big bag clamp around the stomach. But…
Take those pill m’dear. You will not become addicted if you actually need them so make the DH give them to you when you ask (ok you have to wait the allotted time period). I don’t really think it would have been any easier with more holes. And maybe the big poop will work too to open up some space. About the surgical tool—I agree it was probably Swiss Army knife-like with all those pop-out tools including a bottle opener—yes I’m sure they get thirsty during surgery.
You are allowed to whine (or as some of the bloggers in Oz or England put it “whing”). Take those pain pills and keep the drug companies in business. Intervention can wait a week. And even though you told us not to, I still want to say {{{Sucks to be you!}}}--NO! NO! NO! not really--that just slipped out. I truly hope you feel better soon and will be sending good vibes back at you.
Hope you can get in another good "wine" in a few days. BTW my confirm word was Flatie--hope that is your stomach soon.
Bless your heart!!! I wish I could make it better. I'm SO thinking that this is a combo of the belly button being so darn far from the GB and the fact that they have taken out an organ. I'm praying for you and sending healing vibes your way. Take the drugs when you need them and worry about re-hab next week. Hope you feel better realllllllyyyyy soon. Big hug (virtual hug won't hurt!)
Oh BG...I'm so sorry that you are in such pain. I hope you can curl up into a ball and sleep until the pain goes away. Please remember that YOU NEED DH to pick you up off the potty so YOU CANNOT kill him...yet. At least you still have your sense of humor!
Maybe you really do need stronger meds - I think they start out giving you weak (useless) drugs and will give stronger if you need them. I'm sorry I really had to laugh about your being in a different dimension having just spent 2 weeks in a parallel universe with my knee replacement surgery meds. It was rather pleasant and you should enjoy that part of it while you can. Call your doc - see if you can get better meds. Good luck!
Oh BG, even in all your pain, you have me laughing and holding my belly cause its still a little sore! I'm so sorry you are going through all this pain! I'm sure its becaise of the single incision. I am sending healing vibes to you...get better soon!
Oh BG I'm so sorry you are in pain. Dang it! I was nodding my head the whole time in sympathy. I didn't even plug my ears. I was one who had a bad time after my LB surgery so I know how you feel right now (I think). I ended up in the ER 4 days after surgery and I broke down crying & told the nurse "everyone *lied* to me - they said this was *so* easy - LOOK at me? Does this *look* easy? Ugh..I'll never forget that. I was miserable.
I hope you feel better soon, and yes keep taking the meds (stop hiding them in your lap!)
How do you make even the worst situations hilarious? Sorry, but this was funny!
And sad at the same time. I never thought it would be worse than band surgery for you! I hope I did not soft-pedal it! If you look back at my posts I know I bitched about the pain, truly I did. (And pretty sure I did not go skiing in a bikini, but who knows with all the Vicodin I was ingesting!)
Here's the difference - I had NO gas pain at all with the GB surgery. I thought it was a miracle. What it really was is saline. The surgeon pumped my abdomen full of saline so that there was no room for the gas to settle. This made a world of difference. And it made me gain 10 POUNDS overnight - which eventually left, of course. So don't sweat the weight (well, go ahead and sweat it out actually).
I don't think its a single incision issue. It just freaking hurts. Its surgery. There is only one thing to do. Take drugs. More drugs than you have now. Enough to knock yourself out several times a day.
So sorry, I hope you don't think I lied about this! Is it like childbirth and I just forgot how bad it was? Maybe.
Get better and stay unconscious as much as possible until you do!
WOW.... I am praying that you feel better. I have been through 2 C-Sections and Gallbladder surgery many years ago. I really hope you feel better soon. Everyday it is going to get better.... I am so glad you have your wonderful family to help you!!! take care, EileenMary
Awwww - I'm hurting for you! You poor thing...my advice is double the pain meds. If you doctor asks why you did it - tell him Drazil told you to. That should fix it....smooches!
You poor girl, that's awful. I think the pain is usually worse if the object being removed was inflamed or damaged, so there's already a lot of inflammation and then the surgery exacerbates it. That was my gallbladder experience - it hurt like a motha for a couple days and then got a lot better. Hang in there.
Hi BG---I hope you are feeling better today. My thoughts are with you! Will you do me a favor and pass my blog site along? I was banded on 3/15/10 and feel the need to be connected to fellow banders. Thanks for your help. Darlin1
No way I'm plugging my ears, you are always sunshine and rainbows... so I am happy to hear you **whinge** (aussie spelling! and different pronunciation!) a bit.. of course I wish you weren't whinging about pain :( I am sorry you are feeling badly. I had an awful!!!! time after my LB surgery, so my heart goes out to you. I agree... take more meds to make it through this period and blame DH as much as you like he he..
I hope you are feeling better today! I had my gb and a hernia repair about a year and a half ago....painful, but nothing like what you're going through.
And yep......the pain meds work best taken internally, silly! :-)
I'm a wife, mother of three, and eternal optimist. I've been skinny and obese and all the places in between (too many times). Getting the Lap Band is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I am thinking perhaps a lighter pain medication for the breakthrough pain...that way you keep it at bay. I hope you feel better soon.
