Cool pictures! Thank you for that! I've been wondering about port placement...since I knew you got yours in a different spot. But I'm not sure I know (or care) where I want mine...but the pics really give me something to think about. Probably talk to my dr. on Weds at the pre-op...

My port is just about in the same position as yours!! Isnt it weird when you lie down and force it out it sticks out like that? It freaks my hubby out when I contort my body to see how weird I can get it to look

Thank you so much for this post and the pics. What made you choose that site for your port? Was your doctor receptive to putting it there?
And lastly, your stomach is amazing. No stretch marks! You really look great.

I, too, have a Realize band but a regular port, not a low profile port. It is quite prominent and the surgeon said at any time he would replace with it a low-profile port. I considered it but decided that it doesn't bother me and I don't care if it bothers someone else, so I took the stance "if it ain't broke don't fix it." My scars, by the way, have almost totally faded.

Wow great tummy BG! You don't look like you have had kids much less lost so much weight!

When I had my consult with my surgeon, I told him I wanted the low profile port and he gave me a look like, "yeah, duh, of course that is what you are getting." So it must be the usual procedure now. I think only the super obese get the regular port now, at least for lap band (what I have).

I need to catch up on your blog!

Oooo good to know about the scars Sally (I'll have to come read through your blog next, since you're in maintenance...I'm try to get through them all, but I'm way behind here LOL!).

Thanks gals, I think even if you don't care, it's good to at least ask your doc where he places them. When I started researching this, I can't tell you how many people told me they'd never asked and woke up with a third boob and the port on their sternum, on top of their ribs or just under the ribs where they hit the port when you bend, or right at the pant line. Maybe it's just because I'm anal, but to me, it was like saying...where do you want you new appendage. If I've got to live with it forever, I want it to be in a comfortable place...it does become important the thinner you get as you can bump it more easily and then it gets sore.

My doc said he could place it almost anywhere as long as we had enough tubing...my bum would have hidden it well, but I think I would have made my band tighter every time I sat on it...might have been a good thing...self adjustments!

Tess- my doc places it on the right at about the same location, as his default...I have a bad shoulder/neck thing going on so I can't sleep on my left/front. It would definitely bug me to be laying on my port. Take a cup or a lid off something and push it into you tummy a little and then bend all around...that's how I knew where it was comfortable.
