10/29/10 Downs and Ups
*Portions of Post Deleted For Lap Band Book
DH got a new (used) car finally (his was sucking us dry with repairs the last few months)...picking it up in Ohio now (my brother is in the car biz)!
The neck/back is finally much better (thanks for your help)...some trouble sleeping still.
I'm officially depressed...my Surgeon's receptionist called and my Surgeon is leaving the state (remember his partner left for another hospital in town a few months back)...I was wondering why he was acting aloof at my last visit and didn't talk to me about the pics for his website that he'd asked me about. So much for getting him to vet the book. I'm going to miss him. Two new Docs will be starting in January...no fills before the holidays...*sigh*.
My project all week has been organizing the loose holiday stuff into bins (Mom gave us each some boxes of her things with the move...yes, boxes...I'm blaming her for my holiday decoration illness)...fun project...not.
I got an email from someone running an OCD website asking me to post a link here...OCD?!! ME? I didn't say I 'had OCD', I said I was 'almost OCD' (and lest I'm offending anyone that has it; it's a serious disease). I just think I'm VERY organized and I don't like re-work...everything in it's place and all that. Hmmm... I do have a label maker that gets a lot of use...actually the most labels are in the area I'm now working on...OK, you decide...Here are my holiday shelves...yes seven shelving units of just holiday stuff (and yes, I'm working on those bins today where the holes are)...but I'll tell you right now I didn't even look at her OCD website...I don't even want to know that I've got something else wrong with me...I'm still working my way through the first list of health issues LOL.
You're all on your way to my house for an intervention aren't you?

10/21/10 Health Advocate and NSAIDs
Well, I went off to the PCP Monday. Apparently the pain in my neck is not my DH (LOL), but is definitely from the ladder fall...in fact, it was 'right on schedule' for inflammation.

BTW, The PCP gave me the same anti-spasmodic drug (Flexeril) I hijacked from DH…yes, I'm a SPAZ! My range of motion in my arm is better, but not my head…so I'm walking around like Frankenstein with my head bolted to my body…make that a SPAZ FRANKENSTEIN…Hey, I've got my costume!…Just in time for Halloween!

10/12/10 5th Fill...Chasing the Sweet Spot
*Portion of Post Deleted for Lap Band Book
OH, and can I just say...WHAT THE HECK WOMEN??!!! I tried on about 4 outfits before finding one that fit OK this morning...yes, I'm having fat days again. I wore a new top, no coat over it. Do you know how many women I passed today...in the parking lot, in the ladies room, in the stairwell, in the waiting room (where I was called to the window three times), three different nurses during my appointment. I was wondering why I was getting stares and was starting to take it personally that I look like a stuffed sausage in these jeans.

COULD ANY OF YOU HAVE TOLD ME THAT I HAD TWO LOVELY *SHINY* TAGS WITH THE SALE STICKER HANGING ON MY BACK?!!! *sigh* ...and I'm guessing some of you were fellow banders...*double-sigh*

7/9/10 How Is It Friday Already?
Busy, busy, busy! I swear I haven't had time to pee this week (and you know that's a problem with my bladder). I'm taking a break from cleaning for a quick update:
Got to run...DS1 is up...before noon LOL!
- Shoveled out from the long holiday weekend...I'm still doing laundry...ugh.
- The kids have had a lot going on this short week and DS1 leaves in a few hours for a weekend back at college for an event there so I have to get him rolling soon (he's taking the furniture he bought at the garage sale out to the frat house).
- Sorted the rest of my sewing pile and my whole closet (I had piles all over our bedroom and DH was complaining about all my land-mines he'd been tripping over in the dark in the mornings...he was threatening to start turning on the light...can't have that! I need my beauty sleep...or a face lift!). I've got LOTS of tops I can alter to make them work for me...sewing a straight line down a seam is the extent of my sewing expertise (and patience). Oh, and I tossed most of the 'mending' as you recommended...so if anyone in my family comes looking for something I'll be blaming it on you.
- My in-laws arrive on Tuesday and DH informed me he told his sister about my LB, but not his parents...he wants me to 'surprise' them...hmm, not sure how this will go over as his family is very...how can I say this...'Just eat less, exercise more'...and they've seen me on all my yo-yo trips up and down, so it should be interesting (oh and his Dad and Mom are a Physician and Nurse).
- I'm shoveling out the house (did I mention my in-laws are coming?)...I think I must have forgotten 'Spring Cleaning' this year...sometimes my 'oldtimers' works for me.
- My family has been calling a LOT again this week...they've got next week to finish packing the folks before the big move and there's a variety of opinions on when I should arrive/leave and how I can be the most help (apparently, or so they're telling me, I'm a better 'unpacker' than a 'packer'...it's the 'almost OCD'...I'm wicked at organizing things).
Got to run...DS1 is up...before noon LOL!

3/23/10 Namaste! **Update**
Today is going to be a big Band day in BG Bandlandia with two big 'meetings' later.
Just got home from a Yoga class with DD...no teacher asking me the whole time 'ARE YOU ALRIGHT?' LOL. Much better than Boot Camp, and it still made me sweat! BTW Plank position is much better looking with my Victoria's Secret tight exercise tank/bra top on than it was in my nightshirt...but I did giggle every time the teacher said 'PLANK'! A young (probably 35) woman near us at the end of class turned around and said 'You girls look like gymnasts!' OK, I wanted to hug her for saying 'girls' instead of the usual 'Mom' or 'Mame' I get. It was the first time both of us had ever been to a yoga class, so we set up in the back of the room. We kept up (thank you Wii Fit yoga), but our flexibility is terrible right now (OK, mine is...can't even touch my toes yet...DD is still pretty flexible, even though she kept commenting on how she was surprised how stiff she'd gotten)...we were laughing through the class as our legs were shaking most of the time...so...flexible? able to do all the moves perfectly? umm...NO, not even close! I'm sure the teacher was showing all the 'here's how you can modify this' just for me again. I couldn't help myself when the lady said that about gymnasts...seriously?...I got one of those release-all-the-air-in-your-body-in-a-second-loud 'PFFTS' and then started giggling and said 'WHAT?!!' She looked a litle offended by my laughter and says it again 'Are you girls gymnasts or something?' I seriously couldn't tell if she was joking, making fun of us, or what?! DD just looked at me with the 'Is she serious?' look...thanks for the help sweetie.
I kid you not, I looked the woman dead in the eye and said 'No, we're dancers!' Now, DD is losing it trying to hold the giant 'PFFT' in and I see her shoulders shaking with holding the giggles in (I didn't lie...DD did dance competitively for a long time, and I was on a dance team in HS and College...yes, before you were born). I'm sure it was my Vicky's dance top that dazzled this lady. I'm hoping we don't see the same lady in the Zumba class we're trying next...I'll have to start working on my dance moves LOL. We had a good laugh on the way home.

Time to hit the showers! Namaste!

3/10/10 Wednesday Words
*Portion of Post Deleted for Lap Band Book
- DH and I went to DS2's Theatre class performance today. We arrived a little early and it never ceases to amaze me that every teacher always says the same thing about him to us 'He's such a nice kid, and he's SO funny!' When he was little, I used to worry when they said this as I was afraid he was the class clown and causing the teacher problems...nope...well behaved, and gets all the teacher's laughing as well. He's got the same humor skills his Dad has...he's very 'quick witted' and can get me laughing in seconds. Apparently this skill has been 'unleashed' in his semester of theatre class...he's 'very good at improve'. It wouldn't surprise me to be watching him do stand-up sometime in the future.
- DH and I grabbed a quick lunch (Chinese) after the performance...we never get to get out together at lunchtime (he works far away) so it was fun. Funny thing was I kept thinking of how we wouldn't be having these school day events any more (just after school activities) our youngest is starting HS next year...where did the time go?!! How did I get so old?!! ACK! GASP! Oh yeah...chew, chew chew!!
- DS1 is enjoying his Spring Break at home and catching up with all his HS friends he hasn't seen in awhile. My 'three boys' have been playing lots of video games together in the evenings; the 2 boys say Dad is getting good...they even made me come and play one of those 'soldier games' (no blood thank you)...let's just say they were all laughing hysterically at me as I'd get stuck facing a wall (apparently the Wii Fit isn't really a 'video game')...they took great pleasure in seeing how long they could follow me around before I'd finally figure out how to turn and then 'BAM'...I'm dead. I complained until they gave me 5 seconds to turn and shoot...still didn't help...I spent hours playing and I only shot one of them (and don't tell them, but it was accidental...after awhile I just run around willy-nilly firing). As they were all laughing at me I reminded them of my first endeavor playing a game like this with them...it was years ago when they got their first soldier game (WWII Normandy) and they had been playing it for almost 6 months before they invited me to play. I started playing and came upon a tank...so I got in it and started driving the tank around...you would have thought they'd seen a miracle!!! 'WHAT'S THAT NOISE? WHY'S THAT TANK MOVING?!!' me 'snicker' 'MOM?!! YOU CAN DRIVE THE TANK??!!! HOW DID YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THAT?!!' me 'snicker snicker...It's just me defending my country!' 'MOM!!' Apparently, they'd been running around all the little towns and never realized they could drive the vehicles that were sitting around parked...so there! I might not have good soldiering skills, but I can think outside the box...or maybe that's the tank LOL!

1/23/10 It's Raining Men!
In case anybody but me cares...I'm STILL not 'Normal'! I know, you already know that! I've been up and down the same flippin pound all week again! I don't think my body believes I'm 'Normal' either (you know I can read your minds). Either that or it's self-sabotage...I've been feeling hungry more lately...and my reflux is so much better...that can only mean one thing, right? I must need a fill!!! Hmmm...or have I just been stressed out this week and I've not been following all the rules? Was I drinking too soon? Maybe it's the stress of starting my new blog location? Yeah, that's it...I'll blame it all on you guys for twisting my batwing arms to do this (knowing full well that I'm tech challenged)...and don't even get me started on the 'Before' pic scare (I'm coming after you punker).
My 'new thing' today is...sticky note doodles!!! I found out in the process of moving my blog that apparently there are copyright laws about bootlegging pictures on the internet (who knew...remember I didn't even know what a 'blog' was when I started...so all you photographers and comic illustrators...the check is in the mail). So until I scope out exactly what Ican get away with am allowed to copy I've decided to start illustrating my own blog. Hey, I like to doodle, this might be fun (I really need to get some pink sticky notes...this yellow is just clashing with my new fashionista page). I picked the 'web/blog' size when I scanned them but they look too small in this preview (let me know if you have to get out the magnifying glass...tech-challenged, remember).
On to other news about things that are ACTUALLY CHANGING (stupid weight)...it's NOT snowing...it's raining today...I'm singing praises because I don't need to shovel the rain (ice and snow return tonight...*sigh*). It's melted most of the snow except the piles at the edges of all my cement. Funny thing is, I kinda miss all the snow...snow is just so much prettier than rain don't you think?
I was talking to a friend in California this week and it's been raining buckets there...no more drought! The wind was blowing so hard the palm trees (yes, I hate her too...stupid un-tropical Pittsburgh) looked like they do on the Weather Channel when that guy is being pelted in the middle of a hurricane and bracing himself against the almost-bald palm tree. I'm hoping her house doesn't slide off the cliff!

DH was in Phoenix again all week (boocoo rain there too) and was supposed to be home last night around 11pm. He called me and was excited the airline upgraded him to first class (he can't sleep on planes either, but at least he'd be more comfortable in his 6'3" frame and skinny a$$). Then he called with flight delays because of the wind (and it was still pouring...I heard this morning on the news that AZ declared a 'state of emergency' because of the flooding and mudslides)...more delays...then he found out the plane coming in had to reroute because they ran out of gas...they used more fuel flying against the winds (REALLY? If you fly on a windy day you might not make it there?...they don't pump in a few more gallons just in case?...well, that will really help those with fear of flying!).
Later they didn't think the plane was going to make it in so he was able to get the last (middle, coach...ugh) seat on another flight (this one had a stop in Vegas)...calls me from the tarmac after they'd been sitting near the end of the runway for two hours waiting to see if the winds would die down so they could take-off (the bathrooms were starting to smell and a riot was ready to break out). Guess which plane he saw out the window taxing past them and taking off when they first got out there (before they shut the Phoenix runway down, and they were waiting for clearance from Vegas)?..yep...someone else got that first class seat...and got home on time. He called me again and they deboarded the plane...'not going to make it home tonight'...he's 'looking for a hotel room'.
I never sleep well when DH travels...remember myirrational fear of the dark...I always go to bed much later and I was sleep deprived since I'd done this all week. After I fell asleep...I'm sleeping very soundly when all the sudden I wake up to a ROBBER coming in my room in the dark!!!!
NO, IT'S A RAPIST ATTEMPTING TO CLIMB INTO BED WITH ME...
OR MAYBE THERE ARE TWO OF THEM?!!

...HEART...BEATING...OUT...OF...MY...CHEST...(d*mn...right about now I wished I hadn't pushed my PCP to cut my blood pressure meds in half just so I could finally post 'Yay! I'm cutting my meds back too!'...stupid vanity!)...
WHY DON'T I HAVE ONE OF THE BOY'S BASEBALL BATS UP HERE FOR JUST SUCH AN OCCASSION?!!...
I hear *grumble* 'I'm going to try and get a few hours of sleep.'
WHAT?!! THE RAPIST IS TIRED AND JUST WANTS TO SLEEP?!! *the rapist turns on his side to face away from me* 'zzzzzz'...
This can only mean ONE thing...
no action for me DH is home...oh, and it's 5:30 am...d*mn...

1/15/10 Friday Facts
STRESS:
-DH is stressed out at work..."worst day ever" yesterday.
-DD got laid off this week (and her BF of 3 years and she broke-up just before Christmas). She's also been sick as a dog for 3 days now (still running a fever...doc thinks it's a virus) "Mom, my life sucks". She's got a two year follow up procedure coming up on Monday (outpatient) and I'm hoping she's not still sick (and that the procedure can go on). Thank God her insurance goes through the month (yes, she'll buy ins. after that).
-DS1 called from college yesterday and thinks he has the swine flu (wouldn't get the shot, believe me I tried)...I'm waiting to see if he made it to the doc.
-DS2 is as happy as a lark...ski club trip tonight.
-Someone please tell me how to sleep better when you're stressed (DH and I are both not getting enough sleep)...and pray for me that I can stay up until 11:30pm to pick up DS2 tonight.
