Oh BG, that sounds like... well, not fun. I'm no medical genius but after my c-sections, my doctor was ADAMANT that the only way to prevent infection was to keep the wound completely dry. She even made me use a hair dryer on cool setting to dry it after my showers for the first two weeks. So you might want to call your doctor and ask about this. And in the meantime maybe do the blow dryer thing.
Far out. How on earth did they get all that gauze in there? A magician must be right. Glad you're feeling ok now though. You sure have been thru the wringer!!
Girl, I'm hurting for you. I'm freaked out about stuff like that too. I agree with Kristin, I've been blow drying my LB inscisions and think you should call your Doc about removal of magic gauze. I hope you are okay, if it's any consolation, my port incision is near my belly button, and although my belly button was frowning slightly before, now it looks like a stroke victim trying to smile, wierd, down on one side up on the other. Let us know what happens!
Okay, that is just GNARLY! I can't believe that much gauze was stuffed in there. I think you need to remove the wet gauze if you haven't already. That can't be good for the incision. I hate single port lap chole's btw. My port incision is really indented too. I hope you are feeling better and that this belly button issue resolves.
I had my lap band by single incision via my tummy button and my gauze stuck too. I had to lie on the bed and peel it off layer by layer. If I didn't lie down I would have fallen down cause it was making me feel sick and wobbly but like you my hubby was a bigger wimp than me!
My incision was stitched though so it did finally peel off, but the stitching looked like something from a Frankenstein movie. You can't see it though as it's just inside the top of my tummy button and it's now healing nicely. Good luck with the stuck bit! I did blow dry mine for a few weeks too after the shower.
Wow, BG. I'm thinking you've just all around had the darnedest time with this GB surgery. This is crazy. I agree about calling the clinic. I think the gauze has got to go and if it stays it's going to cause problems. This just doesn't sound normal or good.
As for the belly chasm...dang. Maybe instead of a piercing you get it studded. :) One great big hig diamond or something completely outrageous to fill it. :)
I'm glad you are feeling better! So very glad the pain is disappearing and that you are back up and around and drawing doodles. I was worried about you all weekend!
Oh God - this reminds me of my drain that was in me for my tummy tuck. She told me to take a deep breath and she grabbed and pulled and all I could think was "ALL that was in me?" GAG! I hope it turns out to be the cutest belly button evah - to match your super cute tummy!
Amy W. - I am also grossed out by bandaids and such. Mostly my issue is with the adhesives. BG - There are NO WORDS! I am thinking a big old nasty scar would be 1,000 times better than anything having to do with your belly button.
oh geesh! I've had three surgeries through my belly button so it is a giant scar filled void now. Hope you get it resolved soon and don't worry, the swelling will go down!!!!
BG, I was belly laughing at your description of removing the gauze and your doodle. Boy I tell ya, if there is going to be something unusual thats going to happen it happens with you!
No kidding, I just enjoy reading and laughing out loud. Can you hear ME??? I hope with you all as BG is hysterical. I just love how she describes all the details, I sorta felt I was holding the other end of the gauze as it kept coming and coming. Too funny. I'm sorry BG but it is too funny. I do not remember so much gauze when I had it done. Painful YES!! Please feel better soon. Love imaluckydog
OMG- I had to laugh because when I was in college I got this weird growth thing behind my belly button. So they had to drain it and pack it(so painfully). Anyway I didn't really know what it meant when they said pack it, but they told me I had to change it. So I went to get it out and it went on and on like that. I almost passed out and had to call my Mom because I couldn't put anything back in there. Yuck! Sorry you had to go through that.
I'm a wife, mother of three, and eternal optimist. I've been skinny and obese and all the places in between (too many times). Getting the Lap Band is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I love to laugh and I share everything (in this Lap Band Blog ). Have you heard? I'm on a new journey to pay-it-forward and with the encouragement and support of my Lap Band Groupies.........
I'M WRITING A Lap Band BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Join Me!

Definitely---call your Dr.
On another note--I too have fishing line pushing out from one of my spots(and catching on everything). He cut it off? Not pulled it out??
