Great post-- makes me wonder about my fill level. I think I'm good-- but I can't say that the satisfaction comes right as I eat. However: I just have to eat slowly and not too much b/c otherwise I get a 'traffic jam' in my esophagus and regurgitate (gross.) So, I am 'restricted' in amount-- and I eat alot less by training b/c of this. Make any sense????
Thx for this post-- excellent! And: you will get this weight off. Hopefully, the stability of being around home and the knowledge of needing to pay attention will you there!
Great post BG... You can scold (remind) me of the basics at anytime. I forget often! have a great vacation. I just posted my 7/29 (today's)Dr appointment results! I'll warn ya... they are great. and it's all because I listen to everything you tell me! :-) <3
Just had my 5th fill and this one has taken me over the edge and I am having a hard time eating solid stuff unless it is very moist. I am wondering if I need an un-fill. The thing is, I had just fair restriction before this fill (losing about 1 lb per week) and he only put in .25 cc this last time. I am eating a lot of soup, vegs, yogurt, hummus, cottage cheese etc. I think I will let it ride for a few weeks and see what happens. My next appt is the end of Aug. Any advise? Linda O

Vanessa- Yeah, 'Satisfaction' is what happens between the meals, and it takes me about 20 minutes after a meal to feel the results of my eating. Eating slowly is also something I had to work hard at as things do 'back up' and that can cause esophageal dilation.
I see some Banders who use the Band as a 'STOP' mechanism on their eating though...if they're following the rest of the rules but eating until the Band makes them stop (PB's if they eat more), and they're not getting in the minimum amounts/solid protein their Doc says, then they're probably too tight. There are also those Banders who use their Band to stop them from overeating/binging too much and they push the limits and find themselves 'overfull'...yes, the Band can restrict you from binging, but that's not using the Band properly and will lead to complications.
Linda- Here's the advice; Ride out your restriction for a week more or so, but watch things closely (you didn't mention any stuck, PB, or reflux problems, but keep an eye on those). Don't let the 'soft food syndrome' become your routine after a few weeks. If you can't eat a solid protein like well-chewed chicken or hamburger by lunchtime, you're just too tight. Some people get a huge difference with just .1cc out even. Educated your Doc and work with him/her on getting things perfect.
I'm a wife, mother of three, and eternal optimist. I've been skinny and obese and all the places in between (too many times). Getting the Lap Band is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I love to laugh and I share everything (in this Lap Band Blog ). Have you heard? I'm on a new journey to pay-it-forward and with the encouragement and support of my Lap Band Groupies.........
I'M WRITING A Lap Band BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Join Me!

You are so wise! Great post.
I agree - many things that you summed up are things I need to remember as a Bandster still on the journey. Thanks!
