My husband is from Newark, right outside Columbus. In my wildest dreams...I imagine someone saying I'm too thin! I remember the post that Catherine55 did about losing too much and she quoted some famous beauty (who's name escapes me) about having a little extra weight: "sometimes a woman has to choose between her ass and her face!" BTW, I think you look fabulous!
I had the same thing happen with frozen yogourt last night. I could feel an ache for about an hour. Not really pain but the ache I get when my pouch is filled. I wonder if the cold is just stimulating nerves around the band. New phrase "band freeze", like a brain freeze when you eat ice cream too fast. Food for thought. Will have to try some more frozen stuff!
I wish I could be TOO THIN!!!! What a chuckle, Right1!! too this Ha I feel Thin and I feel Great it is only what I think that matters. So how do you feel? That is the ONLY thing that matters here. Best wishes, thanks for remembering me. Love imaluckydog
I think our families get used to us looking a certain way in our faces..ie plump...and find it difficult to deal with the skin that makes it just a skosh wrinkly when we lose weight. When I saw my family a few week sago that is all they talked about was my saggy and wrinkly face instead of the fact that I was wearing a freaking size 14 pair of shorts. You decide what you want and weigh it...I am in the easy zone now. I would be happy anywhere between 184 and 165. Right now my tummy blubber bugs me more than face skin so I am carrying on. I think you get to make the same decision...you-not your sister or any other family members.
Good luck with the looser band. I know you can do it.
I am a little nervous that I'll look older once I lose weight (right now people can't believe I'm 41) but I guess you gotta take the bad with the good.
OH MY GOODNESS, BG!!! I'm behind on blogs and just read yours for the last week!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad that you didn't have a slip!! Too thin--that's GOT to feel good in a crazy bulimic way. :o)
My sister lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago and she looks older. I worry about that too, especially since everything is heading south these days.
Oh shit...we all gotta get older....we might as well do it thinner! LOL! Okay...seriously...I worry about this "too thin" thing too. Tonight my son came home for the holiday weekend and showed me picture that his sister (my daughter)sent to him (iphones!) of me sleeping on the couch. It was the most gawd-awful picture....I looked OLD, OLD, OLD. I'm not speaking to my daughter right now..... LOL! But, I figure....I can fix up anything with a great outfit, some make up and getting my grey roots covered. Right now...I'll take "too thin"!!!!
Have a great holiday weekend! Hope you are okay with all your band issues! These bands are soooo fickle! Onward! Judi
I think the folks around us get used to seeing us at a certain weight so when they see us at a healthy weight, they think it's too thin...people are starting to say similar things to me...I still have 25lbs+ to go to a "normal" BMI....!
I think people perceive me as one way (fat), and even though I'm still 15lbs!!! overweight, people tell me that I shouldn't lose any more weight. Weird.
And the band is so fickle! I just posted about how my band is changing on me. It's true, you think you've got it a little bit figured out, and heck no you don't!
You'll do fine, and I have every confidence that you will never be obese again. You've got your head band now, right? ;)
Too thin? Amazing. Take it as a NSV and don't worry too much about gaining weight back. Stress supposively affects the band too, so don't stress. You look great and if you gained 5 pounds, you would still look awesome. You can always lose it again. I am still learning how to use mine to the best benefit. *Maria*-Blogger from "This one time at Band Camp..." mybigfatbandgeeklife.blogspot.com
When people lose weight, it takes the people around them a lot longer to adjust to how that person looks. For example, my best friend's brother was at least 220. Now he looks to be 160. At first I thought he looked sick. The more I've gotten used to seeing him, I think he looks fantastic.
I worry about the looking older in the face thing. (Why? Its not like I am in danger of losing too much at this point, LOL). But seriously, all the studies say once you are over 40 you look younger with an extra 10 lbs, whereas under 40 you look older with that same extra 10.
I also have the first-hand example of my mom. She is a totally disordered dieter, who would have wild weight swings. Once she got older, the thinner she was the older she looked...in a big way. So I know what is in store for me. I'll take the extra 10 lbs!
The thing about the face makes me think everyone has weight issues and their opinions may be based on their own! Five pounds is never going to matter and you just have to be happy with you. I know your face pretty well and I think you are truly gorgeous. Also...your fat (? yes even you still have some) will redistribute over the next year thats why they say wait to decide on PS but it will also redistribute in the face. The weight gets lost initially from the top down as you know...the point? Dont worry about it for now! LOVE YOU GIRL!!!
My mom lost about 100 pounds some years ago at age 50 and she looked older.....for a while. About a year and a half later a lot of her skin tightened up. It's just a slow process. I think you look great!!
I'm a wife, mother of three, and eternal optimist. I've been skinny and obese and all the places in between (too many times). Getting the Lap Band is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I love to laugh and I share everything (in this Lap Band Blog ). Have you heard? I'm on a new journey to pay-it-forward and with the encouragement and support of my Lap Band Groupies.........
I'M WRITING A Lap Band BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Join Me!

Are you going to red, white and boom? Columbus weather is absolutely beautiful right now. Humidity is low.

I guess this comes from being a lifetime dieter, I see the comment as an NSV! lol
