Hope you get some answers. My sister has nutcracker esophagus and she can't swallow. She usually waits a few minutes and can then swallow again. Not sure how it would work with the band in place. I think you need more wine-just saying. But sure hope you get some relief and answers. And stop googling-you will come up with some serious problem if you do.
Hi BG...I'm really sorry you're having such a rough time. Your doc was a bit of an a$$ wasn't he? It doesn't seem right that he sent you home when the barium wasn't passing through. Did he figure it wasn't him who was going to feel dehydrated so it wasn't a big deal? What you said about the oesophogeal spasms sounds like it makes sense (although as my husband says 'remember, she's not a real doctor'). It wouldn't surprise me if you perhaps got blocked on the ribs and this has caused the muscles/nerves to spasm. I know it wasn't all in a nice logical consecutive fashion...but I know when you work a muscle and it spasms it is more likely to do it again, if I get a cramp in my calf, I have to be careful not to tense that calf up for days or I will get another cramp.
I hope you get some relief tomorrow and I hope you're doctor's over his PMS! ~~Good vibes~~ coming your way. xx
Oh I'm so sorry. It's so scary, not knowing what's going on. I had a crazy appointment last week where I felt like I was rushed in & out and told to get an upper GI and felt like I didn't get my questions answered. Let us know whats going on. If it makes you feel better in December I was over filled and had pain so they made get a UGI to rule out a slip - the tech was clueless, but my surgeon looked right at it and said it's fine, so hopefully you'll hear right away.
Wow... so sorry.. and that is scary. I was having weird random pains in my side about a month ago and my doctor did a full unfill and a barium swallow. He couldn't find anything wrong so he gave me a fill... not my full fill. Now I am working my way back to my sweet spot and it has been tough. But, I would rather protect the band now then regret it later. Best of luck to you!!
Oh honey I am so sorry that you are going through this. I have had the spasms and they are horrible!! I hope that they figure out what is happening with you soon and that you can start getting some healthy restriction back.
It's been a few years (13) since I had my gallbladder removed and I didn't have a band then, but I remember getting horrible pains off and on for the first year after. They felt very similar to the intense gall stone attacks I was having before the surgery. I also had horrible gas pains that I felt in my legs and back. And acid reflux and IBS issues after that surgery too. I think my system was in shock trying to figure out how to work again. I ended up on a no fat, no spices, no leaf veggies diet for about 6 months and that helped.
I hope they can figure out what is causing your pain and get is solved for you.
I am a little irritated your doctor isn't more engaged in figuring this out.. I realized you were trying to get his attention so that he CLEARLY understood your issues. Hope you get this figured out (especially with the holiday in front of us). I hope it's not a slip.. but I have read that after an unfill a slip can go back in place but does take a few months to fully return.. Please keep us updated (boy, this was a tough way to get a new chapter in the book).. hugs to you
Wow, I am just getting started for this journey and now I am wondering if I really want to do this. Please keep posting so we all know what is happening to you. I feel sorry for you. Really sucks what us fat people have to go thru.
BG Thinking of you, I had a large un fill myself today. The day after my one year bandversary. Talk about pains, been there, felt that!!! The Dr. took out 2 cc as well for me. They are telling me my soft tissue around the band gets restricted from my own stress levels." I cause myself this pain" Maybe I need to work on that. LOL I hope you feel better soon as do I. Best wishes imaluckydog licking my wounds.......
Yikes. I am hoping to get a band this summer. This does not deter me, but gives me info that I may need down the road, so thank you for sharing. The doc sounds preoccupied with his trip for a freaking month. Your posts all of a sudden got "real" again. Sorry if that sounds voyeuristic. Bonnie
I'm a wife, mother of three, and eternal optimist. I've been skinny and obese and all the places in between (too many times). Getting the Lap Band is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I love to laugh and I share everything (in this Lap Band Blog ). Have you heard? I'm on a new journey to pay-it-forward and with the encouragement and support of my Lap Band Groupies.........
I'M WRITING A Lap Band BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Join Me!

Wow...I hung in for every scary moment of that. I hope that you find out what it is. I'll be waiting to hear.
My poor little BG....oh I hope you figure this out!
Oh dear...I hope you and your docs figure something out. I'm glad the radiologist was patient - I hate when the dr rushes you when you are concerned!
I hope you get to the bottom of this BG. If anyone can, I know you can. Feel better.
Sorry to hear the news, I hope they can find the answers soon.
